The things we are made of...

Friends, family, readers near and far, thank you once again for your ongoing love and support. Sometimes when I write I feel like maybe Im the only reader :).  I was absolutely staggered to find that there are readers in Indonesia, Canada, Malaysia, Denmark, Germany, Slovenia, Brazil, Spain, UK, United States, as well as our good old Australia. I consider it a complete honour that you would take the time to share my journey, and my biggest hearts desire is that it somehow helps you on your own journey through life. Thank you xxoo

Happy Easter!!! It was so long wasnt it??!! So many days off in a row! We went to a camp site, wow, so much respect goes out to parents who can manage taking kids along to such events...haha I am still recovering. :) I hope it was a lovely break for you all.
With so much commercialism being thrown in our faces all the time, it really is an easy task to buy the easter eggs, pack the camping gear and play tennis. Forgetting and disregarding the immense sacrifice that was made purely to set us free. Sometimes I convince myself that there must be a catch. Why on earth would the creator of the universe, the creator of love and life, give His own just because I'm a stuff up? Why should He take the fall for the things I screw up? The beautiful thing is there is souly one motive behind it all...LOVE. There is no catch, no fine print, no alterior motive. Just plain, undiluted, uninhibited, unconditional love.

There is a reason why this sacrifice and love is so hard to accept, because there is nothing on the face of this earth that is this pure. We can try our hardest, but we arent perfect and as much as I genuinly love the people in my life, my love is marred and blurred with jealousy, anger, sefishness, pride. I want to love diligently and with pure motives, but the truth is, I cant.No matter how much we love people, our spouses, siblings, children, we will fall short, we do hurt the people around us. There is nothing in this world that comes free or without a "repayment" strategy..." I'll help you if you help me" syndrome. It is fed to us in every arena. The television, radio, shopping centres, magazine. We are taught to fend for ourselves, protect our rights.

Jesus was and is the opposite, He lived out the opposite, He offers the opposite.

He offers something that is foreign to the world, it makes no sense. It seems too good to really have truth to it. It is overlooked, under appreciated and sometimes even mocked. The truth of Jesus Christ, His sacrifice and even more incredible, His beefcake, unreal, massive return to life and truimph, is free, and it all happened just because of YOU. I heard it a million times when I was little, but just incase this is the first time you ever have...He would have hung on that cross, taken the pain of the world on His shoulders and endured that pain, and conquered the enemy, if you were the only person on the planet. He did it just for you. You matter. You were created and hand made like a priceless, unique, one of a kind piece of art. You were designed with precision. Thats why when the saying floats around that : He knows the number of hairs on your head, and He has your next breath in His hands, it is the deepest truth you will ever hear. And there is nothing you can do to change it, nothing you have done can erase it. You are loved whether you want it or not or need it or not. You are here because you are wanted. And not just wanted, but wanted and cherished by the very God that brought life to you. Nothing can take that from you. No sickness, no disease, no mental illness, no loss, no gain. It is yours to hold strong to and take heart from. Once you grab this truth with both hands, it will simply and powerfully set you free. It wont necessarily change your circumstance, but it will change you, through the circumstance.

There is nothing that can happen today, that you and God, together, cannot conquer. Do not fear life, its trials, its successes, there is a power and love available to you right here right now, that nothing in this world can take away from you. That is easter! Waaaaaay better than chocolate :)

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus offers something with no strings attatched, no alterior motive, no catch. He simply wants to love you the way you were created to be loved. He wants to show you a way, a course through this life that will lead you through pain and into hope. He isnt trying to sell you something, He doesnt need anything from you, His desire it to love you, and in turn, see that love shared and multiplied to others through you. You are loved, just because you are you, nothing in this world can rob you of that. Stand strong in this simple truth that gets made so complicated, rebuke those thoughts that convince you that you arent worthy, arent good enough, they are lies and have no place in your heart and mind.

Jesus, please make this truth to our hearts, for every single reader, may your love and grace burn through the lies and sit right in the centre of our souls. May this truth of hope and love never burn out, but grow into a massive fire that cannot be put out. xxoo

I would like to dedicate todays blog to my beautiful friend Maria. She lived this love. She grabbed it, shared it with her family, friends and children, and changed the world around her. She got to meet Jesus a little earlier than the rest of us this week, but lets take heart, our futures are together forever. How amazing!!!! Love you princess xxoo

embrace the day

Hey Ho folks, Here we are again. It has been a little while since my last blog ( that felt like a confession;)  Ive had heaps of thoughts and ups and downs and sometimes I dont blog it all, only because I dont want to be negative. With depression, as you would know, there are some pretty low days. But today, I thought I would be honest, even on a flat day, because this blog is about a journey and about truth. The last month has sucked big time. I have continued to be a medication guinea pig, and with it has brought a lot of hectic times. I am on a new medicine which hasnt been tested much, it is a new 'breakthrough' medication, although it isnt breaking through much of my depersonalisation. Ahhh it was worth a crack. Im not gonna lie, these past few weeks/months I have questioned God, yelled at Him, cried to Him, pleaded to Him. Sometimes I was just angry that I was even in this position, daily missing out on normal life. But as the old saying goes : hate breeds ...

Meet Me In The Mess xx

What a horrific week. Australia was left heart broken and the footy world gutted as we lost a key leader of the game to a disease of the mind- suicide. The christian world has been rocked by another young pastor with a young family , taking his life only days ago. As someone advocating for the awareness and treatment of mental illness for over 10 years via this blog-  We need to talk.  I’ve been asked my thoughts/ advice / experience on this latest topic of Pastors and Suicide and to be perfectly honest- it’s tough. It’s tough because there is no one size fits all. There is no “depression” and “anxiety” that fit neatly into a little box with a bow on top. It’s messy.  We’re messy. We all are. Do I believe God is still God and God is still good and brilliant and beautiful and a healer and a comforter? - Yes I do.  But I also believe we as a society are living beyond our means. We are over stimulated and under responsive, we’re addicted, w...

Beginning and End

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of communication lately, its been a hectic time of late, only a few days till Sam starts kindy. We had a birthday party today for Sam's girlfriend Summer :) They are the cutest, such innocent little minds and hearts. I really am so lucky to have the people in my life that I do, I feel I am surrounded with the best. I got home to my parents today for them to tell me that our next door neighbour ( when I use to live there) had passed away due to cancer. He was older, so its sometimes easy to think, oh well thats normal and in the cycle of life. But I saw his daughter today, and not matter how old you are, you still belong. That is still her daddy. She still feels like his little princess. It still hurts the same as when she would have been 5 years old. In saying that he was old, probably in his 60's :) Sorry to those whom that offends :) I also saw his little grandchildren, who have no concept of age. All that they know is that they love Papa, and he...

The Mess In The Message xx

Hey Fam! I wrote this blog last week, before the news of another pastor caught in a web of infidelity made its way to the headlines. Ouch. That one hurt my heart. They all do, but that one was deep. Thankfully, the only need we have is Jesus, the only mentor we can fully trust is Jesus. The only wisdom and encouragement we need is found in His word.  So with that in mind, here’s the words I plopped down last week:   Hello Friends, new and old. 2020. Here we are. On the eve of an election, in the heat of a pandemic, on the edge of our seats hoping and praying that 2021 will be a new start. We’re imperfect humans with a perfect God. We’re simultaneously broken and whole. We are living in this timeline of fallen humanity and perfect peace. Flesh and Spirit. We as humans are in the constant wrestle of the world and God, pleasure and pain, jealousy, anger, bitterness, forgiveness, happiness, desperation, excitement, disappointment. Essentially, if we a...

Loooooong Weekend

Hi Folks, Thanks again for everything, support and love. Still appreciating it all. Have gone a few days without the internet so its good to be back. I would like to try and write everyday but it may change from time to time. It has been a big weekend, a lot of resting and sleeping which sounds boring but its the best :) Count down for Sammy and the week leading up to kindy. It is our last week with our little baby boy, then he grows up. Jas is beardless which is a nice change, its nice to be able to see his face again.  Thats us in a nut shell. I go to see Marcus in a week from now which is always a good thing, he will assess my medication and if it is helping. The thought of another baby enters my head as Sam gets older, but I would like to give treatment a good crack first. For the mums out there who read this and can identify with my story, I have read that pregnancy and birth can actually be a positive thing because it alters brain chemicals and hormones, and can sometimes ...

A quick little look at the background...

So here we go. Its overwhelming and kind of I'm possible to try and put into words the last 3 nearly 4 years. As a pregnant mummy, I was besotted with Sam ( my son). Every kick, every ultrasound, heartbeat I got to hear, it was more than I ever expected it would be. Amazing. I'd look in the baby book everyday, see how big he was in my tummy, what he was developing, I was already so incredibly proud of my baby and he wasnt even born yet. But the pain that was about to unfold was nothing I was prepared for. Looking back I should have seen it coming. I have had cronic anxiety my entire life. I spent a lot of my childhood and majority of high school life riddled with panic and fear. Not average fear... daily, gripping, life threatning panic that my parents would die, or my husband would be in a car accident, I'd start to panic before he was even late home. I would visualise their funerals everyday and cry at the thought, feel every feeling as if it were happening. I grew up ...

The Special Shelf : Value xx

For my entire life, my Nana has kept a shelf full of irreplaceable, invaluable, one of a kind trinkets from around the globe- they created a visible symphony of her life experiences.  Small reminders of moments she shared, places that captured her soul and maybe some that she just found too cute not to buy.  Either way - they each had their place.  Not just on the special shelf at Nana’s house , but in a certain position, facing a specific direction. If you moved the tiny penguin family a little to the left, we all knew it.  If you had a quick look at the minature glass Pepsi bottle- be sure it would be noticed.  For years and years those ornaments watched us all grow. They were witness to us all becoming school age, toothless, adolescent- All while a reverent respect remained between us. Untouchable.  Even as an adult bringing my own children over to GG’s house ( Great Grandma) , the first and most important rule- do not touch the special ...

The best and worst day of the year

Hey folks, thanks for reading again. I really appreciate the feedback and encouragement. You are lovely. So today is an emotional day, especially for queenslanders in our country. Our prayers are with you xxoo I was hesitant to blog today, wanting to be sensitive to the natural disasters happening so closely around us, and also because it is an emotional day. A combination of my parents leaving for overseas for a month, and it being Sams birthday. We fit so much into one day, mcdonalds for breakfast, pizza hut for lunch, yogi bear at the movies, slip and slide, pirate ship dinner...massive day. So my little baby is 4. For those dealing with the same/similar condition as me you would know what I mean when I say I literally dont know where the years have gone. I think a sad thing is that Sams birthday is always going to be hard for me. I need to make it about him and his life, not about me. But I was saying to Jas on the way home tonight, it is really hard having Sams birthday, also b...

Butterflies and Caterpillars.

Today I had the privilege of watching the beautiful view from our bedroom, and to watch Bella see a butterfly for the first time. We watched it sit on the blossoms and then all of a sudden, to Bella's amazement,  it flew!! Bella couldn't believe it! The butterflies flew up and down and all around the garden. They flew where ever they wanted with abandon. The colours were bright and beautiful, they were free. In that moment I heard a whisper into my soul. I love these whispers, they have sustained me. Jesus quietly spoke to my heart and revealed to me that as caterpillars, the butterflies lived a completely different life. They didn't know at the time that a transformation was taking place, and in the cocoon, in the darkest time when the world seemed the most bleak, that's when the greatest change of all was taking place. In our cocoons, trials, suffering , the fire refines us. It burns away garbage and whatever it leaves becomes invaluable and strong. The pain in ...
